Lambo: A Crypto Milestone Symbol

Lambo is slang for the type of car that many crypto-enthusiasts dream of buying when their digital assets significantly increase in value.

What is Lambo?

Lambo is short for Lamborghini, an exotic car that people often refer to in their quest to get rich on cryptocurrencies. The term was especially common on crypto forums in the early days, when participants would ask when prices would rise, with them writing, “When Lambo?”

Lamborghinis are high-end cars that usually cost at least $200,000 - and indeed, some crypto-enthusiasts have managed to capitalize on bitcoin market movements enough to buy one of these cars. Some wealthy traders made this purchase as a symbolic gesture.

Entrepreneur and VinWiki co-founder Peter Saddington bought a Lamborghini for less than $115 in February 2018 thanks to an early interest in cryptocurrencies. After cashing in 45 BTC, he drove away in a $200,000 Lamborghini. That said, in 2020, when bitcoin was worth $24,000, the cryptocurrency would have been worth more than $1 million.

Users often joke that when cryptocurrency prices start to skyrocket, they spread the “When Lambo” meme, referring to when a cryptocurrency owner can buy a Lamborghini or get rich off their crypto assets.
