Anonymity in Cryptocurrency: What It Means for You

Anonymous is a situation where something has unknown authorship or provenance.

What is Anonymous?

Anonymous is when something has unknown authorship or provenance: someone who is not named, identified, or known. Anonymity can be related to a desire to remain unknown.

Anonymity has been one of the main attractions of cryptocurrencies throughout their history.

One such anonymity-focused technology is found in Zcash, which implements a cryptographic tool known as zero-knowledge proof, and can give any participant the ability to screen their transactions, allowing them to make transactions without having to reveal their addresses. This also obfuscates the amount of the transaction – a good example of anonymity in cryptocurrency.
